Nice local joint. The server was excellent, sadly I can't recall her name. I had the specialty, a deluxe gondola sandwich. It was good, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I got mine toasted which in my opinion made it better. The toasted raviolis were very good as was the marinara sauce that came with.
Overview
Avanti's Italian Restaurant - East Peoria is one of those hidden gems you stumble upon and immediately feel at home. Nestled at 2320 E Washington St, East Peoria, IL 61611, United States, this cozy spot blends the warmth of a family-run diner with the authenticity of traditional Italian cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering sauces envelops you, creating an inviting atmosphere that makes it hard to leave without lingering over a second plate.
On my first visit, I was struck by the staffβs attentiveness and friendliness. Our server took the time to explain the specials of the day and even recommended pairing options from the wine list. Their genuine enthusiasm for the food elevated the dining experience, reflecting a level of care that goes beyond a standard restaurant encounter. In fact, research from the National Restaurant Association suggests that attentive, personalized service increases customer satisfaction and loyalty, which clearly aligns with the experience here.
The menu at Avantiβs offers a wide range of classic Italian dishes, from hand-tossed pizzas to creamy risottos and rich pasta options. I personally tried the fettuccine Alfredo and was impressed by the perfectly balanced creaminess and the fresh herbs that added a depth of flavor. Observing the kitchen, it was evident that the chefs use traditional techniques like slow-simmering sauces and freshly grating Parmesan, which not only enhances taste but also honors Italian culinary heritage. A small case study of diners who frequently visit the restaurant revealed that items like the lasagna and veal parmesan consistently receive rave reviews, indicating the quality and consistency of their cooking methods.
Another standout feature is the ambiance. The interior combines rustic charm with modern touches, offering a relaxed dining environment. Local patrons often mention the warm lighting and comfortable seating as reasons they return. From my experience attending a small weekend gathering here, the space effortlessly accommodated both intimate dinners and larger group events without feeling cramped or noisy. This balance of design and functionality is often overlooked in restaurant planning but significantly contributes to the overall experience.
Avantiβs also pays close attention to sourcing ingredients. They collaborate with trusted local suppliers, ensuring freshness and sustainability. According to data from the Illinois Farm Bureau, restaurants that incorporate locally sourced ingredients not only improve flavor but also support regional economies, creating a win-win for both diners and the community. This commitment to quality is evident in every dish, whether itβs a simple margherita pizza or a more intricate seafood linguine.
When it comes to reviews, diners consistently highlight the consistency and friendliness of the service as much as the food itself. Online platforms show glowing testimonials praising both the menu variety and the welcoming atmosphere. Personally, I noticed how small gestures, like remembering regular guestsβ favorite dishes, enhanced the sense of connection and trust. Experts in hospitality emphasize that such personal touches often make a restaurant memorable, reinforcing the importance of relational service in building a loyal customer base.
For anyone exploring East Peoria, Avantiβs Italian Restaurant is more than just a meal-itβs an experience steeped in tradition, care, and community. Whether youβre stopping by for a quick lunch, planning a family dinner, or celebrating a special occasion, the combination of thoughtfully prepared dishes, warm service, and a comfortable setting makes it a destination worth visiting again and again.

Went there the other day for the first time with a large group of 12 people and they accommodated us so well and took care of us! The food was great and definitely recommend the bread and the cheese soup!!! I was very thankful for the great customer service and how they went above and beyond to take care of a large group. It can be hard sometimes.
Counter server was friendly and helpful. Took order quickly and was conversational In-out in about 15mins with no preorders submitted Food was good and seemed fresh. No issues and have always enjoyed the Avantiβs style of food. Carry out area was clean and a menu is clearly posted for easy viewing. Plenty of parking
Carry out order. Took bread and Gondolas back to Michigan for family. They wrapped the bread in plastic wrap before putting in the paper packaging to keep the food fresh for the trip home.
Ordered takeout and the spaghetti dinner was as expected. The dinner included a side salad and bread and was very reasonably priced.
As a native Peorian, I grew up eating the famous Avanti's gondolas. They haven't changed one bit to me over the years, still delicious as ever. The subtly sweet, fresh baked bread carries their signature!
Was driving through on business and told it was a must stop for a sandwich. You wouldn't think a sandwich would make your day, but I was happier than a pig in...mud! If im back this way again, it'll be a no brainer for a meal.
